HEC2 file

When we converted the attached Haestad Methods HEC2 file, some of the data
appeared to be misinterpreted. One section that I checked was 40.00. The ground
cards and the reach lengths were not the same.

Please have Chris verify my conversion results.

Re: HEC2 file

Keith:

I looked at your model that you are importing and I think you have a somewhat serious problem with your previous model. The ET record, along with IC, NC, NH, NV, KH, and QT records, must ALWAYS come before the X1 record that they apply to. These records are called "change" records and the X1 card MUST immediately follow these records (see page 27 of the HEC-2 Reference Manual, September 1982). This is what RMS/RCAD is expecting and checking for. However, in your data you have ET records after the X1 record and before the GR record. This is what is causing RMS/RCAD to generate the following warning messages when importing your data:

WARNING: HEC-2 data file card GR at line 422 appears not to be in the proper order; will attempt to continue importing.

RMS/RCAD is seeing the ET record, which denotes that a new cross-section record ID is coming and then it encounters a GR record. The ET record cannot lie in between the X1 and GR records. Moving the ET records to just in front of the X1 records fixes this problem that you are encountering.

What is interesting is the RMS/RCAD is finding 227 warnings in your model. Some of these warnings are fairly serious, and the data they are referring to should be fixed.

Please contact me should you have any additional questions.

Sincerely,
