Using Copy & Paste

I went into one drawing and using the copy to clipboard under edit selected a figure
to copy. I then went to another drawing and used Paste under edit to put this figure
in the new drawing. I was asked for scale and rotation factors. I tried several of
each including the default. Nothing ever happened. I made sure the the layer name
was the same in each drawing. Again
nothing. Can you help me please.

Dear Darroll Hawkins :

I recommend that you try the copy and paste commands using a simple drawing to learn how to perfect it. This command does work, and works extremely well. However, it is easy to perform it incorrectly where you can end up pasting it somewhere else than where you really meant to.

1. Make certain that you select Copy Selection to Clipboard from the Edit Menu. It will then ask you for a base point. Enter 0,0 and then hit <Enter>. Then select the object(s). Then, hit <Enter>.

2. Go to the other drawing. Select Paste from the Edit Menu. It will then ask you for the insertion point. Enter 0,0 and then hit <Enter>. It will then ask you for a scale factor with 1 as the default. Hit <Enter>. It will then ask you for a rotation angle. Hit <Enter>.

3. The new drawing will now have what you copied.

If you have any additional questions or need any further information, please feel free to contact me.

Re: Using Copy & Paste

I'm back to having problems again. I pulled up your directions and have
followed them exactly. It doesn't copy.
The drawings are both flx extentsions.
all layers on both drawings are on and unlocked.
The layer name I'm selecting from is the same layer name on the other drawing
that I am pasting to.

When paste I get a point on the drawing after Factor. I do not get a
propective drawing for rotation. After hitting Enter, I do not get a
drawing. I have zoomed in on the point, but no details emerge. I have tried
using Factors of .001, .1, 1, 2, 10, &100 all to no avail.

HELP!!

RE: Using Copy & Paste

Have you attempted to try this on a simple case first?

I think the problem is that you are loosing reference to what you were
last viewing after you paste the contents of the clipboard. You need to
zoom into where you were last looking in the original drawing.

Sincerely,
