Re: EXPORTING DWG FILES

Dear Jim Leach :

This is not true. MicroStation is not processing the DWG file correctly. Try exporting a DXF file from RiverCAD. I think you will have better luck.

If you have any additional questions or need any further information, please contact me again.

Re: Re: EXPORTING DWG FILES

I see the problem....the drawing DWG file contains the cross section
grids as well as the map....is there a way to output or save the map
only??

Re: Re: Re: EXPORTING DWG FILES

Dear Leach, James SWT :

Use the copy to clipboard command, copy to another drawing file in RiverCAD and
then save the drawing file as a DXF or DWG file.

me again.

EXPORTING DWG FILES

When exporting a drawing in DWG format that will be used to
import into Microstation, information that has been generated
by RiverCadd, such as cross section alignments, floodplain
boundaries, etc., messes up the coordinate system of the DGN
drawing, indicating that the layers of RiverCadd entities do
not have x,y, or z coordinates associated with them. Is this
true, and if so, is there a fix??

Re: Re: Re: Re: EXPORTING DWG FILES

thanks for the suggestion.....I am really enjoying working with
RiverCad...it works great...I tried your last suggestion (copy and paste a
region to a new drawing), but when you do that, you lose the real-world x-y
coordinates...an option to export the BOSS data and/or just the topo map is
really needed, because of the need to use these products in a GIS
environment...unfortunately, we have to work with both CADD and Intergraph
platforms, and the ability to easily export the RiverCad data to either
environment would be handy....thanks for you efforts

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: EXPORTING DWG FILES

Dear Leach, James SWT :

If you copy it to the clipboard and use the same settings and paste it into a new
RCAD drawing, it should save all of the coordinates. I tried it and it works. Then,
save it as a DXF file.

Alternatively, you can make a copy of the file, switch to the CAD Drafting Module,
delete what you do not want, and then save it as a DXF file.

If you have any additional questions or need any further information, please contact
me immediately.
