RiverCAD new features

1) I have previously downloaded and attempted to use RiverCAD 4.0 beta. The version I used could not handle raster maps, and thus had no interest, but i was told that this would be fixed in a later version. Can the current version of RiverCAD handle raster maps?

2) Will the new NWS program FLDWAW be linked to RiverCad in the (near) future?

Sincerely

Re: RiverCAD new features

Dear Lars :

RiverCAD 2000, which should be out within a week or two, can display background images.

Also, we have plans on supporting UNET, DAMBRK, and FLDWAV in RiverCAD, although direct support for these models is not in RCAD 2000. However, with some manual work, you can develop models for these using RCAD. Also, RCAD can display the flood unindation maps from these models.

If you have any additional questions or need any further information, please contact me again.

Re: SV: RiverCAD new features

Dear Lars :

We are confident that we can make the 2 week date for the final release of RCAD 2000. This will not be a beta version.

In addition, RCAD 2000 can display BMP, WMF, SLB, and SLD files. It does not stitch images together, and some manual work is required to georeference the image. If you need to merge or extract parts of an image, you need to do that in some other software--RCAD 2000 does not do that. Something to keep in mind is that RCAD 2000 can export out GIS shapefiles, allowing you to pull the data into MapInfo, ArcInfo, and ArcView. These programs are perhaps better at displaying raster image files.

If you have any additional questions or need any further information, please contact me again.

Sincerely,

SV: RiverCAD new features

Regarding the release of RCAD 2000, I remeber that in january/february I was told by a representative for BOSS that the, "raster version" was to be released in 5 - 6 weeks. Are you sure RCAD 2000 will be out in two weeks? Is it a beta version?

As for the raster import abilities of RCAD200:
1) What raster formats can be imported.
2) How large raster files can be handeled?
2) Can RCAD be used to georeference the raster image, to concatenate multiple raster images into one, and to extract sub images from a larger image?

Sincerely,
Lars Jenssen
