Lack of memory when running HEC-RAS

Chris,

Since we have been having trouble with the Network Hardware lock I have
installed a password version of RMS on my machine. This version works fine
except that when I go to analyze HEC-RAS data the computer gives me an error
in the dos prompt that says the program doesn't have enough memory to run.
This seems odd because when I was using the H drive (one of our servers) the
program ran fine, and my computer has 15G of space. Also when I export the
HEC-RAS information, it runs fine in HEC-RAS. I was just wondering if my
computer really doesn't have enough memory or if there is another problem.

Thanks for your cooperation,

Briana Korch

Re: Lack of memory when running HEC-RAS

Dear Briana :

Note that the HEC-RAS analysis engine is a DOS engine. As such, it is quite possible that there is not enough MS-DOS memory (i.e., RAM, not disk space) available for it to run. You can attempt to look at its PIF file to see if some of the settings can be adjusted to allow it to access more MS-DOS RAM (memory).

Also, you can try rebooting, try reducing the amount of applications you have running, etc. Perhaps something on your computer is eating up low MS-DOS memory.

If you have any additional questions or need any further information, please contact me again.
