Cutting cross-sections using point data

Chris,

How is it going? I got one more question here. I am cutting cross sections from a
topo using "screen 3D map". I found I could not start or end a cross section line at a
spot point, because "no elevation flound". I checked the point, it does not have
digital elevation with it, instead its elevation is text-labeled on the topo. Is there any
where I can solve this problem? Sometimes I do need to start or end at such a point.
Thanks a lot and have a good one

Re: Cutting cross-sections using point data

Chris,

Thank you for your quick getting back to me. I talked to someone who send data to
me earier, and he said the spot points do have elevations associating with them. So I
check the topo again, found that when I use "list" command to check its properties, I
can find its x,y coordinates and elevation value. I also use "Configure/Elevation
layer/Pick >", when click on the point, it shows the correct elevation of the point.
The layer "Spotelev" on which points are is in "use" mode under "Elevation layer".
So I think I still got something wrong with RiverCAD. Could you please help me again
to figure out what the possible problem is?
Thanks
Zhenxi Chen

Re: Cutting cross-sections using point data

Dear David Chen :

Then, please try using the current version of RCAD 2000 (available from our web
site). This should be able to read this data without problems.

If you have any additional questions or need any further information, please contact
me again.

Sincerely,

Re: Cutting cross-sections using point data

Dear Zhenxi Chen :

Note that RiverCAD and RMS will read point data, if there is elevation attribute data
associated with it. However, a block insert that contains text (which is what it sounds
that you have), we cannot read elevation data from. Perhaps you can go back to
where the data originated from and modify it so that the inserted points have an
elevation associated with them?

If you have any additional questions or need any further information, please contact
me again.
