Load order in AutoCAD

Thank you again for all of your help today to get our RMS 2000 "up and running".
Since our conversation, another "minor" issue has come up, and I am hoping you
can help. Our end-user wants to do some work on a drawing created in AutoCad 14.

When he opens AutoCad, loads RMS and THEN opens his file, everything seems to
work fine. BUT, if he opens his file before he loads RMS, it causes all sorts of errors -
and won't load the HEC-RAS module.

Any idea why this is happening?

Re: Load order in AutoCAD

Dear Joan :

Note that AutoCAD wants to have ARX applications follow AutoCAD immediately in
memory. AutoCAD will force any ARX applications to load contiguously after itself in
memory, and then the AutoCAD drawing is loaded after that. This allows the
AutoCAD drawing to grow linearly without running into the loaded ARX application.
So, if you load the ACAD drawing first, then the ARX application, AutoCAD will
(behind the scenes) unload the drawing file, reload the ARX application, and then
reload the drawing file. First, this takes longer. Second, there seems to be some
initialization issues in doing this.

I would recommend to your end user that he follow the process of loading RMS first,
before loading the drawing file.

If you have any additional questions or need any further information, please contact
me again.
