Computed WSEL does not make sense

Chris:

Attached is a zipped file of our project. When I run HEC 2 on the cross-sections there is a error in the computed w.s. elevation. If you add the minimum c.s. elevation to the depths shown on the J5 tables the calculated w.s. elevation is not the same as the computed ws elevation.

Re: Computed WSEL does not make sense

Dear Doug :

I cannot make your HEC-2 model run. When I attempt to run HEC-2, I get the following error message from the built-in model checker:

Generating HEC-2 data file F:TEMPWSELSPEN0.DAT.
ERROR: A starting profile computation energy gradient must be specified for profile 1 when slope area has been selected as the profile computation method. Use Reach | Profile Description to define the energy gradient or choose Water Surface Elevation or Critical Depth as the computation method.
Cannot generate HEC-2 data file.

Note that if you check our RiverCAD User Manual, it states the following:

When the SLOPE-AREA computation method is selected, HEC-2 computes the starting water surface elevation. An estimated energy grade line slope must be specified. The channel bed slope can be entered to approximate the energy grade line slope. An approximate water surface elevation can also be specified to speed up initial computations.

Are you certain that you ran HEC-2 with the RiverCAD drawing file you provided me?

If you have any additional questions or need any further information, please contact me again.

Sincerely,
