Error 171

I am getting an error 171 on my inlets. The error reads:

ERROR 171 : Curve CB-13-BYPASS has its data out of sequence.
ERROR 171 : Curve CB-13-INTERCEPTED has its data out of sequence.
ERROR 171 : Curve CB-13-SPREAD has its data out of sequence.
ERROR 171 : Curve CB-13-FLOWDEPTH has its data out of sequence.

What is this error? How do you fix it?

Look at stormwater inlet catchbasin 13. It appears that you have not selected a upstream or downstream link correctly. If you send me your model, I can look at it to see what is causing this problem.

Does an on grade inlet have to have an upstream roadway link? Can something be done to allow for an adverse slope for the outlet culvert for an inlet? I am modeling an existing condition and having difficulty with a few on grade inlets that have culvert with adverse slope. In order to produce an accurate model, the inlet must be on grade, with culvert having adverse slope. Any suggestions?

An on-grade inlet does not need an upstream curb & gutter link, but it does require a downstream curb & gutter link. Also, you can (if you want) include a drainage area that drains to the on-grade inlet.

StormNET should be able to handle an adverse sloped drain pipe for a stormwater inlet. Make certain you are running the model as hydrodynamic. If you continue to have problems with the model, send me it to review.

I am running the model as hydrodynamic, the inlets with outlet links having adverse slopes are coming back with errors. I have emailed you the file.
Thanks for your help,
Corey

Corey:

We reviewed your StormNET project file and observed that the inlets (on-grade) which are giving you problems have three outlet links. Presently StormNET supports only two outlet links for on-grade inlets. One stormwater sewer pipe and a bypass gutter link must be defined for on-grade inlets.

In your model, Inlet-1 has two outlet links as "Bypass-1" and "Con-1". However, in addition, this inlet has also link "Con-10" connected between the "Inlet-1" and "Inlet-10" which has an adverse slope. As this link has an adverse slope, it becomes an "outlet" link for Inlet-1 (although it is defined as an "inlet" link).

StormNET can have inlets with adverse sloped stormwater pipes. However, presently StormNET does not support on-grade inlets with more than two outlet links. We have asked our development team to see if they can add support for this situation.
