At civilbooks.com, you will find
all the books necessary to satisfy your engineering needs at the lowest
prices available. Here are a few examples:
Water
Follies: Groundwater Pumping and the Fate of America's Fresh
Waters
Glennon (Law, U. of Arizona) tells several stories of how
groundwater is being pumped from aquifers to generate huge profits
by drying up lakes, rivers, and wetlands. Arizona, Florida, Texas,
Massachusetts, California, Maine, Minnesota, and Nevada are among
the stops.
Six-Minute
Solutions for Civil PE Exam Problems: Water Resources
Taking a big exam like this can be unnerving if you don't know
what to expect. This book will give you a good idea of what to
expect from the PE Exam. The book also gives you insight on what you
need to study. After all, you are not about to re-read all your
college textbooks.
Project
Planning, Scheduling & Control, 3rd Edition
Unique among project management books, Project Planning,
Scheduling & Control is renowned for its
applications-oriented, non-theoretical understanding of the
flexibility required in day-to-day management situations. |

Detention Pond Outlet Structure:
Design Criteria for Energy Dissipators
This month, Technical Corner considers energy dissipation.
Engineers employ energy dissipators whenever the velocity of
flows leaving a stormwater detention pond exceeds the
erosion velocity of the downstream channel.
Our website is currently featuring a document focusing on
some common energy dissipators: riprap apron, riprap outlet
basins, and baffled outlets. For many designs, these outlet
protection and energy dissipators provide sufficient
protection at a reasonable cost. For each dissipator, the
document considers design criteria, considerations, and
procedures, followed by complete example applications.
This technical document is available for download in PDF
format at no charge.

Unit Conversion Utility
The Unit Conversion Utility allows you to convert easily
between units of measurement.
With four clicks, you can convert between any units of
measurement for distance, area, volume, flow, velocity,
pressure, force, energy, fuel consumption, mass, power,
temperature, torque, and many others.
Don't have the number to be converted handy? Use the
built-in calculator to figure it out and automatically use
the result without resorting to cut and paste.
A very useful utility to have in your box of tools, and it
is available
at no cost whatsoever.
