    Storm Water Management Model (SWMM) is one of the hydrology transport models that have been applied widely by the EPA and other agencies for planning, analysis and design related to stormwater runoff, combined sewers, sanitary sewers, and other drainage systems in urban areas, with many applications in non-urban areas as well. It has found widespread use in almost every aspect of urban drainage.

  • EPA-SWMM 5.0 for MS Windows

    SWMM has undergone several upgrades since its development, the most recent one being the fifth one (EPA SWMM 5). Produced by the Water Supply and Water Resources division of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s National Risk Management Research Laboratory, in a joint development effort with the consulting firm of CDM, Inc., the EPA SWMM 5, is a complete re-write of the previous release. Running under Windows, it provides an integrated environment for editing drainage area input data, running hydraulic and water quality simulations, and viewing the results in a variety of formats. These include color-coded drainage area maps, time series graphs and tables, profile plots, and statistical frequency analyses.

    The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has compiled the Flood Insurance Study Guidelines and Specifications for Study Contractors to define technical policy and procedures to be followed in the preparation of FISs, restudies, and LMMP projects. Adherence to these guidelines is required in the Contract Statement of Work. Performance in accordance with these guidelines is required of any contractor preparing a FIS, restudy, or revision unless otherwise specified in the contract.
