This program works seamlessly with AutoCAD, using elevational data within the drawing to automatically produce cross sections. I have never experienced software crashes, lockups, or bugs. It is easy to learn, versatile and has an ability to accurately map floodplains.

Recently we were tasked with mapping the pre and post construction floodplains relative to road projects we are designing. We attempted to use a different software to build the mapping with limited success. With our project deadline fast approaching, we contacted BOSS International. Using the online training videos and help from RiverNET tech support we were able to easily complete the projects. The tech support department was exceptional. Without their help, we would not have completed the projects as timely as we did.

RiverNET is an awesome and powerful tool.  The features are easy to use since the program incorporates pull-down menus & input dialog boxes for interaction between CAD and HEC-RAS.  Once the support staff gave me a tutorial on using the software, I was off to the races.  Our flood study had a typical existing scenario; therefore, the modeling turned out to be rather simple.  The mitigated channel that was modeled had some interesting features.  I felt like the support staff gave me a good base when it came to modeling the mitigated channel.  Not many issues arose when modeling our proposed channel except when it came to an unusual weir structure downstream.  I was amazed when I called the support staff and they came through with their impressive amount of knowledge to help with the weir in the proposed model.  It was very neat to see such user-friendly interface to help in the modeling of a flood plain.

In my opinion RiverNET is a very useful program for every hydraulic engineer. It combines a variety of advantages related to inputting data to a model and outputting results in an easy way. Inputting data, such as cross-section geometry, can be done by reading various data formats or even using a raster file. This can be very useful in many occasions especially when survey 3D data or when a contour drawing file is used. RiverNET also uses automated procedures for drawing sections and cross sections in any scale within the AutoCAD drawing file that includes the main plan of the river reach. Also outputting the results of the analysis directly in ESRI ArcGIS shapefiles gives RiverNET the advantage of making flood maps and creating other elements, which can be used by GIS programs.

URS Corporation Washington Division currently uses RiverNET modeling software on an as required basis. Our many reasons for the selection of this software are first the wide acceptance from many governmental and municipal agencies. In addition, the built-in CAD engine and that it also supports GIS, HEC-2 and HEC-RAS that gives us the ability to model our projects completely with site improvements, the adjusted flood plain delineation, cross sections, etc. or as specifically required by the project. Representative projects could be briefly described as large industrial site facilities, commercial developments and infrastructure type projects including bridges, roadways and railroads. RiverNET has helped me a lot. I'm using it mainly for floodplain mapping. Before I had to do the river modelling by HEC-RAS and then transfer all the information to AutoCAD to do the floodplain mapping. It was very complicated work to generate the actual floodwater surface this way.

RiverNET can do most of the hardest and time-consuming work within a few seconds. I have imported some older HEC-RAS projects to RiverNET to update the floodplain maps and found out that the same work that took me many weeks before, could be done in few days by RiverNET.

I think RiverNET is extremely well developed, very user friendly and easy to learn. I just took the User Manual and did some basic modelling lessons first to get an overview how everything works and where to found the right tools. After three days I had learned all the most important basics and I could start working with real projects. Most of the questions I have faced later on I have found answer from manual myself. Just a few, more difficult issues, I had to ask from BOSS International technical support. Their answers have always been very fast. And they also announce regularly about updates. So I'm very happy with the BOSS International technical support staff.

I can't imagine doing any channel analysis work without using RiverNET.

RiverNET was very useful in completing our latest channel improvements project. With a small budget, it was important to perform our HEC-RAS analysis efficiently and accurately. First excuse me for my English, I haven't been writing English for a very long time! I just wanted to tell you I was very satisfied of RiverNET. Indeed, we had to work on a project to simulate the effects of a flood on a camping site near a river. Following RiverNET the camping site could have 50 centimeters of water in the case of the 100-year flood, because of two weak points on the riverbank. Unfortunately the 100-year flood came this year (in June 2008) and the flood was developed exactly as RiverNET showed it would. So this was for us (in spite of the damages created by the flood) a real opportunity to see concretely the results given by your software and how good and precise they were!

The first is RiverNET creates a river network that is to the scale of the project when I don't know how to make it as detailed when just using HEC-RAS from the start. The second reason I like using RiverNET is it defines floodplain limits with a realistic graphic in an instant. This gives the client and municipalities a better perception of the river system along with other hydraulic calculations that are optionally shown like water elevations. This makes exhibits in my drainage reports look professional along with the supporting calculations. The third reason is municipalities require HEC-RAS files and RiverNET will produce in an instant.

I am still in the green with RiverNET and haven't fully released it's capability, but it has produced results I needed during situations when deadlines are a major factor in drainage designs. So perhaps quality and speed are what's best that the novice RiverNET user will experience.

Oh yeah, the free tech support for RiverNET is the best I've experienced for any software.

RiverNET has significantly reduced the time taken to do floodlines, both on small, single river systems and on large, multiple river systems. With good survey data, the software is easy to use and cross sections are simple to take off. The automatic drawing of floodlines onto electronic survey data is a massive time saver. Large multiple river floodlines for city councils and metropolitans used to take weeks to complete. RiverNET has more than halved the time taken to do these floodline projects.

O’Shea Leader Consulting Engineers Limited is a multi-disciplined consultancy working in the Irish civil and building industry. While we do not tender for major infrastructural development we have a thriving business providing services to the residential and industrial markets for all sizes of developments. The past number of years within the state has seen an overhaul and generally a betterment of the Irish construction industry towards sustainable development; in the context of RiverNET this includes assessing impacts and formulating mediating measures against the impacts on rivers and catchments. The effects of development on an existing watercourse are now routinely requested as part of requests for further information during development planning.

Initially when considering river modeling software I was surprised to discover that there is no continuous maintenance charge on RiverNET; in my experience this is unusual and in all honesty led me to be a bit apprehensive about investing. Once I had reviewed the online demonstration I knew that this software would suite our purposes provided that customer support was adequate. In terms of customer service I can confirm that it is second to none; this is not something that can be said for some of the other companies that supply software to O’Shea Leader and is a major factor when investing in software (and hardware).

Prior to investing in RiverNET hydraulic analysis work was prepared by hand resulting in an ever increasing burden on resources in an age where clients expect more in a shorter time. Since switching to RiverNET there is a substantial time saving to O’Shea Leader and furthermore local authorities have more confidence in computer modeling rather than hand calculations. In effect the invest in RiverNET has already paid for itself due to the time saved and the quality of the work generated; additionally the software allows for substantially more detailed analysis and modeling of multiple scenarios in a shorter period increasing the level of service that can now be offered to our clients.

While Irish engineers cannot yet make full use of all the time saving benefits of the system; many of the ground modeling data import options are not available to us yet, O’Shea Leader Consulting Engineers have been able to modify our in-house surveying practice to benefit from the time saving applications of RiverNET.

As the software is fully integrated with the industry standard AutoCAD drafting package is a major boon to users of RiverNET. Allowing for the fact that at the time of purchasing there are differences between the user interface and user manual there is a relatively short learning curve in becoming proficient with the software. Report generation and integration of results into engineering documents and drawing is also made reasonably simple.

In conclusion O’Shea Leader’s investment in the RiverNET software has proved to be a successful one. Project assessment time has decreased dramatically while the quality of the output information and the numerous options that can be modeled for a development has increased. In operational terms O’Shea Leader Consulting Engineers now have a distinct advantage over our competition and while I cannot recommend the software to other Irish Consultants, I can recommend it to engineering professionals outside of Ireland. In hindsight I should have recommended investment in RiverNET years ago and have since invested in BOSS International StromPack.

I think that RiverNET is a very useful tool in stream analysis and it has helped me a lot in delineating floodplains. ... I must say, I am impressed.

I have been using RiverNET for 4 or 5 months and I must say, I am impressed. I received the new "XP" version and the enhancements over the previous version are many. I can tell because I do not have the XP version of the User's Manual, yet, and the difference between old and new is obvious.

I have been using AutoCAD, DTM, and HEC packages for land and stream channel management since 1990. After running through the first couple tutorial examples, I was able to start using RiverNET right away. I spent less than a day learning my way around. The integration of CAD, DTM, and HEC within one interface is the way I have always wanted it.

The technical support team have been very helpful and responsive. As I said, I didn't need much help getting going but I did find a "bug". Jacob and his team responded immediately and a patch was available within a couple days. Great service.

In another tech support instance Chris, again, in response to our need for importing LiDAR (.las) formatted data recommended Global Mapper as a file translator. Thanks Chris! It is indeed a terrific add-on to RiverNET and, its only $250.00. Native .las support in RiverNET would be nice but GM has some other great stuff too.

RiverNET was not inexpensive but, I guess, you get what you pay for.

Just wanted to thank you for your BOSS International software. I personally bought the RiverNET XP, Floodplain Mapping, and DTM Interface Module in December of 2007.

This was my first project using HEC-RAS and it involved the largest river in the valley. I obtained some HEC-RAS data from two other engineering companies and melded two projects together by adjusting datum and by adding junctions and additional cross sections.

The project, a stockpile plan that is in a floodplain, was approved the first time through by the City's plan checker and the site is currently being graded. Our client and my boss were impressed and I was reimbursed immediately for the purchase.
